Understanding What’s Causing Your Dry Eyes

​If your eyes feel dry, irritated, or constantly tired, there’s usually a deeper reason. For many patients, dry eye isn’t simply a lack of tears, it’s a problem with tear quality. 

 

The most common cause is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD): when the oil glands in your eyelids become blocked or inflamed. Without proper oil flow, tears evaporate too quickly, leaving your eyes dry, uncomfortable, and irritated.

Originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Dr. McKay is a proud graduate of Penn State and Salus University, with advanced residency training in ocular disease. After more than a decade of experience in ophthalmology settings and earning his fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry, he founded Eycon to redefine the standard of eye care.
